Meet the McCrackens

Fifty-one years ago, on his dad’s farm outside of Ft. Morgan Colorado, Rick McCracken realized a need in his local community. There were not enough people utilizing the cattle manure available to them in the area. He acquired a manure spreader and began custom spreading. Working two other jobs and running his truck at night, he began to build a future for his small but growing family. He left Morgan county in the early seventies to move to the mountains of Hereford, TX, the mountains of manure. He started his business in the beef capitol of the world with just two trucks and a front-end loader. Working with farmers that would become lifelong friends, he grew his company on the principles of hard work and dedication to his industry. His goal was always to get in and out without sacrificing quality; Principles his family carries on in the company today. In 1998 Hockey Express Compost was started as a way to offer another quality product for our customers while expanding our ability to offer that great service, that has become synonymous with the McCracken name, all over the panhandle.
